Afghanistan has been prone to both war and conflict and natural disasters over the years. Official figures reported almost 18,000 civilian deaths after a decade of war as of 2014 but the actual figure is likely to be much higher (Rasmussen, 2015). Moreover, since Afghanistan is located in a high-seismic activity zone, it is highly prone to earthquakes, flooding, droughts, landslides and avalanches, natural disasters that have affected at least 6,000 families and 42,000 individuals in the last 15 years (Global Network of Civil Society Organizations for Disaster Reduction, 2015).

The following DRR related objectives have been identified:

• To facilitate individuals and communities develop resilience and get equipped to manage disasters effectively; and
• To facilitate affected people to get relief, recovery and rehabilitation from the disaster.

1.Establishment of Disaster management unit at center and concentration area.
2.Work with communities with focus on disaster risk reduction.
3.Coordination and networking with other likeminded organization on DRR.

To reduce vulnerabilities, enhance local capacities and enable local communities to prevent/mitigate and cope with natural hazards and reduce adverse impacts of natural hazards/disasters within their communities and building the resilience of Nations and Communities to Disasters.
